Botox® Injections can reduce the signs of aging by reducing the muscle activity and wrinkles of the eyebrow and forehead. It is especially effective in reducing frown lines.

BOTOX® Cosmetic Injection for facial wrinkles is one of the most effective treatments in the field of cosmetic surgery. Very few treatments produce such impressive results with no healing time required. BOTOX® Cosmetic is a muscle weakener that is derived from bacteria that have been purified for use in humans. BOTOX® Cosmetic is used to treat “frown lines” which are sometimes called “scowl lines” or “worry lines”. These are the lines seen between the eyes and on the bridge of the nose. In addition, BOTOX® Cosmetic injections are used for “crow’s feet” wrinkles and forehead wrinkles. BOTOX® Cosmetic also can be used for the bands that develop underneath the chin and extend to the neck.

The injections are performed in the office with an ultra fine needle and the number of injections required varies with the degree of wrinkling. Many patients receive BOTOX® Cosmetic injections on their lunch hour and return to work. Botox is truly a lunchtime procedure. The effects of BOTOX® Cosmetic begin between 24-72 hours and the effect lasts an average of 3 months. There is some evidence that after several repeated injections, the effects last longer.

Injectable Fillers (Restylane® & Juvederm®) are synthetic or naturally occurring materials that are placed with small needles to plump wrinkles, furrows or grooves in the skin. The results are instantaneous although the duration varies with the material chosen.

Fillers are substances that are injected under the skin or lips to plump up the tissues. For the lips, fillers can provide an increase in lip size as well as enhancing the definition. They can also plump out “lipstick lines” that develop in many female patients.

For skin wrinkling, fillers are usually used for nasolabial folds (laugh lines) or bigger, deeper wrinkles. Fillers can also be used to augment facial anatomy to make bigger cheeks, chin or to fill in defects and scars.
